The present proceedings of the Research Institute of Geodesy, Topography and Cartography (VÚGTK) contents five original contributions of three authors, focused on problems of geodynamics. Three of them have more or less the general importance, and the last two are related to the territory of the Czech Republic. The first two (A. KOPECKÝ, L. LOYDA) deal with erosion from different aspects, given by opinions of both authors. In the third contribution (L. LOYDA) some features of earthquakes are summarized and discussed on the basis of a rich choice of world literature. In the fourth contribution (A. KOPECKÝ) the opinions and knowledge of the author on development of the Bohemian Massif from neotectonic aspects are presented. The last contributions P. VYSKOČIL) summarizes the present knowledge on the recent geodynamics of Czech Republic and adjacent area, achieved by means of geodetic and geophysical methods.

In general, each contribution-paper reflects the opinions and knowledge of each author, achieved during their studies in last 30-40 years. Some of these opinions could not be in agreement with opinions of other scientists in the same field of interest, and by this publication are opened for discussion. Nevertheless, the results presented here represent the common knowledge on geodynamics, especially at the territory of Czech Republic, in the stage of the end of the 20th century. Obviously, in course of developments in science and using new methods and approaches in next future, the present results can be modified or changed, but it is an usual process of scientific effort. The importance of present proceedings and results consists in their meaning as the mid-term report as well as initial stage for further studies and extension of present achievements by means of advanced technique.
